I am currently a sophomore at Westlake High School. I have a 3.97 GPA. I am currently in an advanced Honors math course and plan to enroll in several other dual credit, honors, or AP classes in the coming years. Football has been a passion of mine since I was old enough to hold a ball. Few things compare to the thrill that comes on game day when you put all your training to the test. Beyond that, I love the study of the game. I love watching the great players and coaches from today throughout history. From watching my own film to find ways to improve, to studying opponents, in order to plan how best to defeat them, I know the importance of preparation and IQ for the game. For instance, once I was playing D-tackle when the guard across the line from me pulled and the QB started to rollout to his right. I recognized that play as a tunnel screen immediately from the film I had studied. Instead of taking the bate, I called out the play to my teammates and I scraped left just behind my D-line. I watched the QB’s eye-line and put my hands up just in time to intercept the pass from the wide open Tight End and run it back the 20 yards for a pick-six. Skill and training is essential, but I was only in position to make that play, because I went beyond the physical practice and put in the time to know my opponent. That is an example of what I bring to a team. I value and pour myself into physical training and improving my skills and my ability to work with my team. However, I also know the importance of leadership, study, and winning the mental contest before you ever set foot on the field on game day. Personally, I love to go fishing and I like to play baseball and basketball. I also was 2nd in my freshman class level in our district track and field finals in Shotput.
