I’ve been a starter on the varsity soccer team at Sayre since my freshman year, where I have played mostly wing back and center back, but occasionally midfielder. My freshman year, I was honored to be named to the all-city team and an academic all American. Last year, I was honored to be named to the all-city team, all district team, all A-Region 11 tournament team, and an academic all American. This year, I was named to the all-city second team and Region 11 Honorable Mention team as well as being named MVP for my high school team. Most importantly, I helped my team capture the All A-region 11 championship.
In addition to playing for Sayre, I have enjoyed playing club soccer since I was in the 4th grade. For the last three years, I have been a proud member of the Lexington Sporting Club 2008 Performance Black Team where I regularly start at either right or left back, or occasionally center back. Two years ago, our club team came up a little short and finished as runners up in the Kentucky State Cup losing a great match 1-0 in the final. This past year, however, we returned to the championship game and came out on top winning the State Cup and advancing to Regional Competition. While we did not make it to Nationals last year, we did fair well in Regionals and positioned ourselves to move up from E64 league play to NAL this year. I am confident our team will, once again, advance to Regionals this year and have a strong shot at making it to nationals.
Off the pitch, I’m actively involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and my church. I also enjoy volunteering with Box to Box, a local organization that uses soccer to help refugees in the local area become leaders, independent thinkers, and scholars. I also work with a program called Kids-to-Kids with my school that serves to mentor and support young students. Additionally, I enjoy regularly volunteering with other organizations in my local community like Lighthouse Ministries and Dare to Care. In fact, I am working with my school to try and graduate with a rare distinction in service.
