My name is Zahid Reategui, and I am a 17-year-old winger from Peru currently studying at Villanova Preparatory School in Ojai, California on an academic and athletic scholarship. I always try to balance my academics with my passion for soccer, and my hard work in both areas helped me earn the chance to study and play in the United States.
Athletically, I competed in Peru’s Copa Federación Plata A and trained with top clubs from the Copa Federación Oro, including USMP, Canteras Peru, and Deportivo Municipal. I started playing soccer at 7 years old and have played internationally in Uruguay against teams from countries like Argentina, Germany, and Brazil. I mainly play as a left winger or attacking midfielder, and this year I will be competing for Villanova Prep and later Ventura Fusion in MLS Next.
A fun fact about me is that I started my soccer journey as a goalkeeper before discovering that my true place was attacking and creating chances up front.
