Macy O’Dell, a 5’5″ forward from Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School, is making waves on the soccer field. As a freshman, Macy earned her varsity letter in both soccer and track, an impressive accomplishment that showcases her athleticism and dedication to her sports. With a 3.8 GPA and a plan to pursue a degree in nursing, Macy balances her academics with her passion for soccer, always striving to improve herself both on and off the field.

A Natural Scorer and Team Player
Macy’s talent as a forward is undeniable. Leading her junior varsity team with 17 goals, she was called up to the varsity squad for the last few district games and playoffs, where she continued to make an impact. Her year-round commitment to the sport is evident through her participation with her club team, SA City 08GA, where she hones her skills and competes at a high level.

Her drive to succeed is fueled by her love for the game and her desire to set and achieve both personal and team goals. “I love the challenges of the game,” Macy says. “It helps me to focus on nutrition, fitness, good grades, proper sleep, mental health, and being a good person so that I can be a great teammate. And I love soccer because it is fun!”

Varsity Success and Ambitions for College Soccer
Earning a varsity letter as a freshman is no small feat, and Macy’s journey is just beginning. Her sights are set on playing soccer at the collegiate level, with early interest in schools like TCU, UTSA, Texas State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and St. Mary’s University, among others. Macy’s commitment to both her academic and athletic pursuits positions her well for future success, as she continues to push herself toward her goals.

Inspirational Figures and Supportive Mentors
Behind every great athlete are the people who inspire and support them, and for Macy, her mother is her superhero. “She ran track in college and majored in Education. She is the mother of four and still finds time to never miss any of my events,” Macy shares. Her mother’s kindness, dedication, and unwavering support serve as a constant source of motivation for Macy, who hopes to follow in her footsteps as a strong and compassionate leader.

In addition to her mother, Macy credits her Girls Academy Club Coach, Pete Palomino, and her high school varsity soccer coach, Aly Zingelmann, for believing in her and helping her grow as a player. Coach Palomino saw potential in Macy and gave her the opportunity to compete at a higher level, while Coach Zingelmann provided her with the chance to shine on the varsity stage as a freshman. “She always encourages me to push myself to be the best version of myself on and off the pitch,” Macy says of her high school coach.

A Leader on and off the Field
As a forward, Macy’s role on the field is to score goals and create opportunities for her teammates, but her influence extends beyond the scoreboard. She strives to be a positive force on her team, lifting up those around her and leading by example. “I want to be remembered for always giving my best and being a great teammate,” Macy explains. Her dedication to teamwork, combined with her passion for the game, makes her a valuable asset to any team she plays for.

Looking Ahead
With her talent, work ethic, and support system, Macy O’Dell is well on her way to achieving her dreams of playing college soccer and pursuing a career in nursing. Her journey is fueled by her love for soccer, her commitment to personal growth, and the inspiration she draws from those around her. As she continues to develop her skills and build lasting relationships with her coaches and teammates, there is no doubt that Macy will leave a lasting legacy both on and off the field.
