His early years were spent with the LA Galaxy Academy, where he played for the U15, U16, and U17 teams. His time with the Galaxy Academy was marked by significant accomplishments, including winning the U17 MLS NEXT National Championship during the 2022-2023 season. This prestigious title is a testament to Michael’s skill, discipline, and leadership as a goalkeeper.

In addition to his championship success, Michael was also part of the U15 team that reached the MLS NEXT Cup semi-finals. These experiences at the highest levels of youth soccer provided him with invaluable exposure to elite competition, helping him develop the qualities that make him a standout goalkeeper today.

Training with the Best: Learning from the Pros

Michael’s journey has also included valuable training opportunities with professional teams. During his time with the LA Galaxy Academy, he had the chance to train with LA Galaxy 2, currently known as Ventura County FC, competing in the MLS NEXT PRO. More recently, Michael has trained with the San Diego Loyal, a team that formerly competed in the USL Championship. His time with the Loyal provided him with additional exposure to a high level of play, helping him continue to grow and develop as a goalkeeper. He also became the third goalkeeper for Albion SC’s professional team, ASC San Diego, which formerly competed in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). These opportunities have given Michael a taste of the professional soccer environment, inspiring him to continue striving for excellence.

Current Endeavors and Aspirations

Currently, Michael is playing with Albion SC’s U18/U19 team and competing in the UPSL. His dedication to his craft is evident in his commitment to continuous improvement and his desire to play at the highest level possible. Michael’s college aspirations include playing soccer while pursuing an education at schools like Oregon State, San Diego State, Cal State San Marcos, California State Fullerton, San Jose State, and Loyola Marymount University. His goal is to find a program that offers both strong academics and a competitive soccer environment, where he can continue to develop as both a player and a student.

For Michael, the role of a goalkeeper is more than just a position on the field; it is a passion and a challenge that he embraces wholeheartedly. “I love soccer and specifically the goalkeeper position because of the challenges that come with being a goalkeeper,” Michael shares. “From having the most responsibility on the field to having to be the overall backbone of your team. And for the game itself, I’ve always loved it.”

Being a goalkeeper requires a unique set of skills and a mindset focused on resilience, leadership, and quick decision-making. Michael thrives under pressure and enjoys the responsibility that comes with being the last line of defense.
